The deeper I go into home education, the more I find myself spending time in (and learning from) my own experiences and reflections. The questions we all wrestle with, the doubts that creep in, the small moments of clarity that show us we're on the right path, the mindset shifts that make us feel in control...
So I've started recording these reflections as mini podcast episodes. Short, raw, honest takes on things that are on my mind. Things I’ve been thinking about, and know others will be too.
This new shelf in my Life Without School collection opens today, with these four reflections:
- Why I don't tell people I homeschool or unschool (and what I say instead)
- Imposter syndrome as a home ed parent
- Why I’m not afraid to steer my children’s day
- Do you really need a home ed community?
They're unpolished bite-sized listens, each only 5-6 minutes long, all getting straight to the heart of something I think matters.
You'll find them in my paid collection on my website, and I'll be adding a new one every week (the next one will be on how we set our days off the right way, followed by how we use the humble one-on-one as a key coaching tool).
If you're already a collection member, thank you - the first four mini-episodes are waiting for you right here.
Oh, and if you have a question about home education that you'd love my take on, just email me back - these focused mini-episodes are the perfect format for speaking to specific challenges or worries. There's a good chance your question will be exactly what other parents would love to hear spoken to, too.
I really hope you enjoy these short reflections, and that they add something helpful to your weeks going forward 💛
Talk soon,
Issy.
P.S. stay tuned for the next full episode of The Life Without School Podcast, on our 9 year old’s experience of trying school for the first time. I’ve almost finished writing it, and should have it out in a couple of weeks!
